I knew those were the rules, but I didn’t care. There were some things I wasn’t going to be okay with, no matter what.

But, Amelia kept talking before I could say anything. “I’m not going to wait for you because you’re not going to go to jail in the first place.”

“I’m not worried about the time I’m going to have to spend in jail,” I said again. “I’ve been there, and I’ve done that before. That doesn’t bother me.”

“You’re not listening,” she said, interrupting me. “I said that you’re not going to have to go in the first place. I don’t care if you are bothered by it or not, I’m not going to let you go. They forgot about a secret weapon you have when they brought those charges against you, and they’re going to have to deal with it in full force.”

I looked at her in surprise. I didn’t know what she was talking about, but the smile on her face let me know she wasn’t at all worried about this.

  “What secret weapon?” I asked.

“Me,” she said with a grin.

I smiled and pressed my lips to hers once more. I knew she was a good lawyer, and I knew she was going to do her best to get me out of the charge, but I wanted her to know it was okay if she didn’t.

I wasn’t going anywhere, and I would be there for her on the other side of any sentence. I would take care of her no matter what. She was the love of my life – the woman I wanted to grow old with, the one I knew was for me.

I had been through a lot in life, and I had gone through Hell more than once, but this was the woman who was my Heaven on Earth, and I knew God had given her to me. I would be there for her, and no matter what, I knew she would be there for me.

She would fight to get me out of the charge, and let whatever happen happen, but I knew nothing was going to tear us apart.

I would do anything for her, and I knew she felt the same for me. She was mine – all mine. Nothing was going to come between us.

We were in love, we were unstoppable, and we were a team. Life could try what it may, nothing could stop this now.

We were meant for each other.

  Epilogue

  Amelia

“Three cheers for Rocco’s return!” Jett said as he lifted his beer into the air.

The rest of the MC cheered on cue, and I laughed as I wrapped my arms around him. It was a busy night down at Echo Mori, but I felt right at home. The entire MC had come together to celebrate the fact they were all currently out of jail, largely thanks to me and the work I had done.

Just as Rocco had said, he and a few of the others were charged for what had happened at the warehouse that night. There was a reason for it – shooting off guns so close to the residential houses was a crime, after all – but I fought long and hard for each of them, and I got all their cases dropped.

They were in jail only a few days in the end, and today, Rocco had been let out. I was happier than I had ever been in my life to see him walking through the door, and I was glad that I had the power to do that for him. And, for anyone else in the MC, too.

He had told me he thought we were going to need to work together legally more than just for Roman, and I was okay with that. Knowing now what it felt like to come out of there and into the bar with all the men celebrating was better than ever leaving the courtroom with a case won, and I knew this was the right choice for me.

We had talked, me and Rocco. I was his. I had made the commitment, and I wasn’t afraid of what the rest of the world said about it. This was the man of my dreams, and I didn’t care if it wasn’t conventional for a lawyer to be with a guy in the MC, but I didn’t care.

I wanted to be with him, and I was ready to live my life happy and healthy from now on. I was going to fight to get my mother out of prison, and I was going to fight to make sure these men were all treated fairly by the law, as well. I didn’t care how long it took. I didn’t care how hard I had to work.

I was going to make sure these men were all given fair treatment, and I was going to take my place by his side in the MC. Sure, I would never be a member myself, but I didn’t need to be. This was my man, and I was happy to be with him. I was happy with the life we would live together, and I was happy with being known as his.

That is, except for the one thing he called me.

“Boys, I want you to all meet my old lady,” he said as he put his arm around me. “You should know that she’s mine, and I’ll happily break the face of anyone in here who thinks he can hit on her.”

There was more laughter all around the room, and I cringed at the name. “Do you really have to call me your old lady?” I asked.

“Yes,” he said with a laugh. “It’s an important title here in the MC, and I think with time, you’re going to love it.”

He kissed me right there in front of everyone, and I smiled as I shook my head. I might not think that I liked it, but then, he had a point. I would grow to love it with time. After all, if that was something important to them, and it meant something important in the MC, then I was all for it.

I wanted everyone in the world to know that we were together, and I didn’t care if that meant I was going to have to take on the title of a name I didn’t particularly care for in the process.

It meant that I belonged to this man, and it meant that I would forever be his. No one would ever come between us, and I was okay with that. Hell, I was more than happy with that.

This was the love of my life, and I would stand by his side through everything.

That’s what love was, after all, and I was proud to say I was part of it. Rocco was mine, and I was his, and this was our family.

  We were the Steel Wings.
